Welcome Home Tyler!

We arrived home from the hospital on Wednesday afternoon. After a couple of hours of settling in, Kirby came back home. We don't think he quite knows what to think of the baby. Last night when Tyler had the hiccups ( he sounded like a chirping bird), Kirby would bark at him after each one. He also seems extremely bothered when Tyler wakes us up in the middle of the night. Kirby will stretch, lift his head, and grunt. Oh the life of a dog!
Our first night home was pretty typical. Tyler woke up about 3 or 4 times to eat, but went right back to sleep each time. Last night, however, was a different story. When he would wake up, he didn't want to go back to sleep unless he was being held. I guess this is something to get used to! All in all, we are totally in love with him and learning more every day.

We Proudly Announce the Arrival Of...

... Tyler John Larkin

Our little guy came into the world 10 days earlier than expected. Mommy had a prenatal massage on Saturday afternoon and her water broke 30 minutes later. After checking into the hospital around 7 pm, we experienced the beauty of contractions until 2 am when the epidural came. At 5 am the doctor announced that although the baby was head down in the birth canal, he was upside down and that a c-section would have to be performed if he didn't turn. Well, he didn't turn so we went into surgery and our little boy was born at 8:35 am on Sunday, January 4th. He came in at 6 pounds, 10 ounces and was 19 inches long. He is doing very well and is super cute. We get to go home tomorrow. Thank you to all of our friends and family that have called and visited us. Tyler can't wait to meet everyone!

Snow, Snow, and.... More Snow

Holy Smokes do we have a lot of snow! It has been snowing for days (literally) and it's all Scott can do to try to keep up. Today after a successful trip to Big Mountain, he had to park in the street and shovel the driveway in order to pull the car in. The fence between the neighbors house is nearly buried and there are walls of snow everywhere!
On the baby front, I am getting quite uncomfortable. Sleeping is hard, my back hurts... all things I guess you expect when 39 weeks pregnant! Hopefully the snow situation won't hinder a trip to the hospital. The doctor seems to think January 14th is still the "big day", so I guess we'll see!

Holiday Cheer!

Happy Holidays to everyone! We have had a busy couple of weeks in the snow. Holiday visitors including Eleanore and Andy and Julie Gendler were a lot of fun, and then the Christmas festivities were upon us. We were able to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas with our friends and family and it was so nice to be able to be together.

On the baby front, I am 17 days away from my due date, but I am ready whenever this baby is! The nursery is ready, the hospital bags are packed... all we are missing is Little Larkin. Of course we will keep everyone posted of any happenings. Hope you are enjoying the last days of 2008 and looking forward to a fantastic 2009!

Lamaze class

Tonight was our last "birthing class", that's what they call the Lamaze classes these days. After 6 weeks, we learned a lot of helpful information to get us prepared for the big day. I am due in 5 weeks and everything is going along just "great"(that is the word my doctors use; "great heartbeat, great kicking, great blood pressure..."). My last day of work is December 20th and I am really looking forward to having some time off before the baby comes. With lots of family and friends visiting over the holidays, it will be nice to be able to relax and not worry about going to work at 5 am. Here are a couple of pictures from class tonight with Scott wearing the "empathy stomach".

San Diego

Crystal Pier, Pacific Beach
A couple of weeks ago, my mom, Scott's mom, and I went to San Diego to have the family baby shower. We enjoyed a beautiful afternoon at my Aunt Chris and Uncle Neal's house overlooking the ocean and were able to spend time with my grandparents, Aunt Veronica, Scott's sister Joy and stepmom Gayle, and cousins Kate, Anne, Meredith, and Leigh. It was so great to see everyone and be able to enjoy the California sun. Thank you everyone for the wonderful gifts and words of advice and support!

Is Winter Here Already?

Monday November 3rd
Wednesday, November 5th

I should remember from growing up here how fast the seasons change, especially from fall to winter, but it's still a surprise. The past 2 days have gone from beautiful, crisp fall afternoons to huge snowflakes falling. We woke up this morning to Big Mountain covered with its first layer of powder. Maybe this means another fantastic ski season?
