Farmer's Market

Yay! Summer must be near if it is Farmer's Market Tuesday! We had the most glorious weather today! Tyler spent the day with Nana Kath having fun at the park, feeding the ducks and fish at the river, seeing the trains, running outside.... what a tired boy he was by dinner time. We headed down to the weekly market and saw that the entire town had the same idea. While perusing the stalls, we were able to listen to Grandpa Doug sing and play guitar. He was the musical entertainment at the market this week! We enjoyed really delicious ice cream from a new shop called Sweet Peaks. All of the ice cream is homemade in their store and they have really interesting flavors. We had the Birthday Cake flavor, which actually has no cake in it, just the flavor of cake and ice cream together. I enjoyed a crepe for dinner with ham, brie, and pesto... so good! Scott had the szechuan noodles, also good. I purchased some lovely cherry and cocktail tomatoes and can't wait to eat them with olive oil and basil tomorrow. It was a lovely evening and we can't wait until next week!

Simple pleasures are the most important parts of life. No need to travel across the planet to have wonderful, exotic experiences; some of the most valuable are next door in familiar surroundings where you feel safe, known and loved, where you discover new flavors, smells, and impressions that become yours forever. You never forget them even when you are 80+.
