On Father's Day we had a BBQ and had the family over. It was a great way to spend time with all of our dads. We took a 4 generation photo that I will post soon. It has Tyler, his dad Scott, his dad Doug, and his dad Al. Here is a picture of my two boys!

Tyler's First Tooth
Tonight we found out that Tyler is cutting his first tooth! Kathy was playing with him and he pulled her hand to his mouth and she felt the tooth coming in! I can see it barely cutting the surface of his gums. It is on the bottom in the very front. I tried to take a picture, but it is still too small to get on camera, and a 5 1/2 month old baby is not very cooperative with the picture taking. As soon as we can see it, we'll get it on the blog. Yay Tyler! What a big week... he is now sleeping in his crib at night, he has started eating rice cereal, he loves sticking out his tongue, and now his first tooth!

A Day in the Life...
Tyler has figured out how to hold his bottle by himself. This works as long as A) There is enough milk in the bottle to reach his mouth at the particular angle he is holding the bottle, and B) he doesn't move too much, or the bottle will slip, and crying will ensue.
The jumperoo has gained popularity in the toy choices at our house since he has gotten big enough to actually jump, move, and make the machine light up and make music play. Unfortunately, the jumperoo tune gets stuck in my head every day.
Lakers Win!!!
Yeah! The Lakers won the NBA championship tonight, much to the delight of the men in the Larkin house. Tyler was very excited about the win.

5 Month Checkup
We went in for Tyler's checkup on Thursday. He was in a very good mood and screeched and laughed the whole way through the appointment, until the shots came. But he recovered quickly and the doctor said that he is "developmentally advanced for his age". Like we didn't know that! He can roll over both ways, and according to my parents (who were watching him at the time), he can cover the space of several feet in seconds. Scott and I have yet to witness the traversing of the room, but I'm sure it will come before we know it.
Tyler's stats:
Length: 26 inches / 75th percentile
Weight: 15 lbs 6 oz / 35th percentile
Head: 17 inches / 50th percentile

Trip To San Diego
As I mentioned before, Tyler, my mom, and I flew to SD last weekend for Nana's 85th birthday. Although we were only there for 48 hours, they were 48 great hours. We had such a good time with Nana and Papie and hope to be able to go back and see them again soon.

The New Face
So Tyler seems to have discovered the camera. Whenever a camera is put in front of him, this face appears:
He is now 5 months old and really finding his voice. He loves to talk and scream silly noises. We often wake up in the morning to some kind of baby babble coming from the bassinet.
We are having to find creative ways to take his picture, or be really fast. Here is one from yesterday in his new jumperoo.
